How we curate, update, and cite

Who writes Love Bern

Love Bern is written and maintained by the Love Bern editorial team — we publish as an organisation rather than under invented personal bylines. Our guides are built around how Bern actually works on the ground: a compact UNESCO Old Town you can cross on foot in fifteen minutes, the turquoise Aare looping around three sides of it, a tram and bus network that gets you to Gurten or the BärenPark in minutes, and the rhythm of a small capital where shops close early and Sundays are genuinely quiet.

How we choose recommendations

  • - Trip usefulness: does it make a real Bern day better, not just longer?
  • - Walkability: can you reach it on foot through the Lauben, or with one easy Bernmobil hop?
  • - Durability: we lead with what stays true season to season, and treat prices, hours, and water levels as things to re-check.
  • - Atmosphere: Bern rewards a slow pace — the light on the sandstone, an Aare float, a coffee under the arcades — and we weight that “feel” heavily.

How we verify time-sensitive facts

Prices, opening hours, transit fares, festival dates, and Aare conditions change. When a page quotes one, we check it against the authoritative source — the venue’s own site, the transport operators (Bernmobil, Libero, SBB), the city tourist board (Bern.com / MySwitzerland), or the official festival page — and we link it so you can re-check the latest yourself. The per-page record of what we verified, with the value and the source, lives in our repository’s FACTS-SOURCES file, summarised on our sources page. Where a detail genuinely can’t be pinned down, we keep the durable guidance and add a friendly nudge to confirm it before you go rather than guess a number.

Independence & external links

We don’t take payment for inclusion and we have no affiliation with the museums, restaurants, hotels, or operators we mention — names and brands belong to their owners. Outbound links are kept restrained: we link off-site mainly when an official page is the single most accurate place to confirm tickets, hours, closures, or an Aare safety update, and we avoid copying large tables of volatile detail that the venue maintains better itself.
